Every Puzzle Solution — Masks, Threads, Cannons and Hidden Paths

Stuck-point solutions for Onimusha: Way of the Sword: the Nijo mask shadows, the Yamabushi chase, Arashiyama's hidden passage and cannon, and the Corpse-Stench seal route.

Kyoto's quietest bosses: the puzzles that stop runs cold.

The campaign hides a handful of genuinely obtuse blocks — puzzles with no real prompts, spread across the Kiyomizu approach, Nijo Castle, Mount Oe and Arashiyama. All six classic stuck-points, solved.

The Whirlwind of the Kiyomizu Approach

The block: the right-hand rope ends at a wall that looks like a dead end.

The fix: walk into the specific corner spot by the wall, sweep Detection — the target reveals itself. Shoot it with the bow and the path opens.

The Nijo Castle Mask Puzzle

The hint: Shizuka Gozen tells you "the light is spilling outside the door."

The fix: stand at the doorway and watch the shadows of the four masks on the ground. Each shadow corresponds to a number, one through four. Shoot the masks with the bow in numeric order and the mechanism releases.

Catching the Yamabushi

The block: a long multi-step chase with zero guidance.

The fix:

  1. Take the key, open the dungeon, and push deep inside.
  2. Stand on the boulder directly under the wooden frame; scan to reveal two ropes.
  3. Climb on top of the iron cage and scan again — bow-shot the rope there.
  4. Work the mechanism, then wall-run along the left side to the second rope and cut it.
  5. Return to the laser mechanism and activate it once more — the way forward opens.

Arashiyama: The Oni Hidden Passage

The block: the shooting targets are hidden, and the two mechanisms demand a specific order.

The fix: shoot the left mechanism first to cross the obstacle. Head down, resist the left mechanism, and find the firing point at the lower right. Shoot the forward mechanism, then return for the left one. Collect the loot, and the bridge above becomes passable.

Arashiyama: Destroying the Cannon

The block: the shooting positions are almost invisible, with no prompts.

The fix: at the locked gate, look up — shoot the target above the doorframe, then blow the powder barrel mounted on the gate itself. Inside: detonate the barrel on the left and slip past the explosion. At the cannon's left side, shoot the final barrel to blow the way through.

The Corpse-Stench Seal

The block: after sealing the second Prison Window, the onward route is anything but obvious.

The fix: seal the window and let the cutscene confirm the road opened. Drop down and push forward, then take the stairs up to the right. Wall-run along the right-hand wall to reach the target ledge.

These cover every classic wall. For the full route context around each one, see the walkthrough hub.
