Every named character in Onimusha: Way of the Sword: Miyamoto Musashi, the woman in the gauntlet, Ono no Takamura, Izumo no Okuni and the cast around them.

Way of the Sword sets its dark fantasy in early-Edo Kyoto, warped beyond recognition by miasma and prowled by the Genma — interdimensional horrors in grotesque shapes. A warrior wearing the Oni Gauntlet cuts through them while searching for what his sword is actually for. Here's the cast around that question.
Miyamoto Musashi
The historical swordsman, reimagined. Musashi came to Kyoto to hone his blade and chase the title of peerless under heaven — and on the way, a Genma ambush leaves him bonded to the Oni Gauntlet, a relic strong enough to fight the invasion.
His problem is the power itself. Musashi sneers at it: a true swordsman earns the way of the sword with his own hands, not with a demon's arm bolted to his. The whole story runs on that friction — how do you break up with the thing keeping you alive?
The Woman in the Gauntlet
The mysterious Oni woman hiding inside Musashi's gauntlet. She normally stays put, aiding him from within, and only surfaces when circumstances force her hand. The story keeps her card close to its chest for most of the campaign — her identity is one of the game's structural reveals (no spoilers here).
Ono no Takamura
The old man who arranges Musashi's meeting with the gauntlet's occupant, guided by her hand. Eldered though he is, his swordsmanship is ferocious enough to sweep away whole packs of Genma — and here's the detail that matters: like Musashi and Ganryu, he is himself an Oni Gauntlet bearer. The implications ripple through the endgame.
Izumo no Okuni
The famous dancer. She sought out Takamura for one reason: the power to bring down Genma, for a reason the story keeps to itself for a long while. Her performing career is on pause — her storyline, including what happened to her friend Hina and the promise on the Kamo sandbar, is the campaign's emotional through-line.
And the Antagonists
On the other side of the gauntlet: Sasaki Ganryu, the rival swordsman whose duels bookend Musashi's growth; Dokiyo, carrying a plan far older than the invasion; and Minamoto no Yoshitsune, the white-robed architect of it all — whose history with one member of this cast is the story's cruelest reveal.
