Controller LT Not Working — The Steam Input Fix

Soul-absorption on LT dead on PC? Disable Steam Input first, then the manual mapping fallback, then the hardware checklist — wired connection and PS-pad display tip included.

When the trigger dies, the gauntlet starves — fix it in minutes.

A recurring PC issue: the controller's LT — your soul-absorption trigger — simply stops responding, usually courtesy of Steam Input fighting the game's own controller handling. Work down these fixes; most players stop after the first.

Fix 1: Disable Steam Input (fixes it for most people)

  1. In your Steam library, right-click Onimusha: Way of the SwordPropertiesController.
  2. Set the override to Disable Steam Input.
  3. Fully close the game, restart Steam, relaunch, and test LT.

Fix 2: Manual Steam Mapping (fallback)

If disabling breaks other things or doesn't help, invert the approach:

  1. Properties → Controller → enable Steam Input.
  2. Open the layout screen and enter the controller configuration.
  3. Bind LT to the keyboard key that corresponds to soul absorption.
  4. Save, restart the game. The absorption now routes through the remap as a stopgap.

Fix 3: Everything Else Worth Checking

  • Go wired. Bluetooth pads can drop trigger signals mid-press — plug in over USB and see if the flakiness vanishes.
  • Test the pad itself. In Windows' Devices and Printers, verify LT actually registers. If Windows can't see it, no in-game fix will.
  • Reset in-game bindings. Options → Controller → restore defaults. A stray remap is easy to inherit.
  • PS-pad users: in the game's settings, switch Button Icon Type to type 2. It won't repair LT, but it ends the confusion of wrong prompts while you debug.

Absorption feeling laggy rather than dead? Frame-gen latency can do that too — see the frame-rate and Issen guide for the settings that keep inputs crisp.
