Haori Not Changing? Four Fixes for the Locked Haori Slot

Can't select a haori at the mirror? The four causes in order: menu not unlocked, Standard Edition, unredeemed DLC, or a full-body outfit hogging the slot.

Greyed-out haori? One of these four causes is always to blame.

Haori are switched at any save mirror under Change Appearance — but the slot stays stubbornly locked if any one of four conditions fails. Work down this list in order; the cause is almost always number one or number four.

Cause 1: The Menu Isn't Unlocked Yet

A fresh save file's mirrors only offer saving and storage — no Change Appearance anywhere. The feature unlocks after the Kiyomizu-dera main mission "The Stage is Set at Kiyomizu."

Fix: push the main story past that mission, then re-check the mirror menu.

Cause 2: You're on Standard Edition

The three haori — Gyokai, Hakuzuki, Unryu — are Deluxe / Premium Deluxe DLC perks. The Standard Edition ships with no haori at all, so the list renders empty.

Fix: buy the Deluxe upgrade pack.

Cause 3: The DLC Was Never Redeemed

Owning Deluxe isn't enough — the cosmetics wait at the mirror, not in your wardrobe.

Fix: save mirror → Check Add-On Content → redeem every cosmetic reward, then re-open Change Appearance. Steam players: confirm the DLC checkbox in your library first, and restart the game before claiming.

Cause 4: A Full Outfit Is Hogging the Slot

Complete body costumes — the panda suit, Okuni's full ensemble, that tier of skins — occupy the outerwear layer themselves. While one is equipped, the haori slot locks and nothing can be selected.

Fix: switch the outfit back to Musashi's default base clothing. The haori list instantly becomes selectable.

Still stuck after all four? The underlying claim flow is the same one charms use — compare with how omamori equipping works, or re-check the unlock steps in the haori unlock guide.
