Oni Castle Finale Walkthrough — Benkei Rematch and the Yoshitsune Endgame

Published 2026-09-11Updated 2026-09-188 min read

The final chapter: awaken Benkei's rematch, the Yoshitsune betrayal, climbing the Oni Castle gauntlet, and beating the three-phase final boss with the Awakening finisher.

The Oni Castle — where every debt comes due.

The finale. One warning before you start: triggering this chapter's opening cutscene locks out all remaining side quests — finish your collectible runs and upgrades first.

The Trap

Talk to Ono no Takamura at Rokudochinno-ji and the endgame begins. Musashi is instantly teleported into a Benkei rematch — fully awakened now, with new mechanics layered on, but the armor-stripping fundamentals haven't changed. Strip, punish, win.

Then the rug pull: back at the temple, it was all a diversion. Takamura is dead, killed buying Okuni's rescue. Giou sacrifices her own soul through the gauntlet to revive Ganryu — who storms the Demon Gate to challenge Yoshitsune and is killed in one move. Yoshitsune drinks the souls from his gauntlet and returns to the living world at full power.

Musashi goes for Yoshitsune. Okuni stays to hold Kyoto.

The Climb

What follows is a vertical boss-rush up the castle — no forks, no missed pickups, just everything the game has taught you:

  1. Unlock the Spiral Staircase 1 mirror.
  2. Datsura ambush behind the mirror — old news by now.
  3. Elevator up; clear through to the Mansion Front mirror.
  4. Prison Window with the Hyakue elite.
  5. Spiral Staircase 2 mirror, then the open arena: two Nue Beasts.
  6. The Sky Corridor mirror, stairs up, and the Great Nue.
  7. A Prison Window in the corridor's middle with Dofuten.
  8. Final elevator to the Castle Keep Front mirror. Rest, upgrade, commit.

Final Boss: Minamoto no Yoshitsune

Ride up, watch the cutscene, and the Yoshitsune fight begins — and he earns the title. Highest stats in the game, the widest moveset, fast stance switches, fast attacks, and throws that punish greed brutally. Three phases deep.

The phase-three rule is the whole ballgame: only the Onimusha Awakening state can actually damage his health bar. Anything else chips posture only. And the Awakening finishing move is his specific weakness — landing it deals enormous damage. The fight is a rhythm lesson in building and banking your Awakening windows: parry well, keep the gauge alive, and cash it in on the finisher.

When it ends: Yoshitsune dies, Shizuka Gozen returns to the realm of the Oni, and the world is saved.

The Ending

The postscript scene: Musashi and Okuni back to back against a fresh wave of Genma — Okuni has quietly become an Onimusha herself, and their journey closes on banter, not farewell. As Okuni puts it: "A long way yet to peace." Musashi's road as an Onimusha is only beginning.

Game clear. Now loop back for the extras: the all-bosses rematch list, the Oni Armament catalog, and the full puzzle solutions.
